The short version: Your pet data lives on your device. We don't sell it, share it, or use it for advertising. The AI sees your pet's context to answer your questions — that's it.
1. Who We Are
PetSage AI is developed and operated by Michael Wilson, an independent developer based in Melbourne, Australia ("we", "us", or "our"). You can contact us at privacy@petsage.ai.
2. What Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Pet Data: Pet profiles (name, species, breed, age, weight), diary entries, health records, medications, and vet clinic information you create within the app.
- Photos: Photos you attach to diary entries or upload for scanning. These are stored locally on your device.
- Usage Data: Anonymous, aggregated information about how features are used (e.g., which screens are visited most). This cannot be used to identify you.
- Contact Information: If you contact us via our website contact form, we collect your name and email address to respond to your query.
- Purchase Information: Subscription status is managed by Apple's App Store. We receive a notification that a purchase occurred but do not receive your payment details.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To provide the app: Your pet data is used to display your diary, health records, and insights within the app.
- To power AI features: When you use AI Chat, Invoice Scanner, or Smart Photo Scanner, your relevant pet context (profile, recent diary entries, medications) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a personalised response. This data is transmitted securely and is not stored by us on our servers after the request is complete.
- To improve the app: Anonymous usage analytics help us understand which features are most useful.
- To respond to support queries: If you contact us, we use your contact information to respond.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your pet data is stored locally on your device using iOS data storage. We do not operate servers that store your personal diary entries or pet records.
When AI features are used, data is transmitted to Anthropic's API over encrypted HTTPS connections. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle API data. We recommend reviewing Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
We implement reasonable technical measures to protect data in transit, including TLS encryption for all API communications.
5. Third-Party Services
PetSage AI uses the following third-party services:
- Anthropic Claude API: Powers all AI features. Data sent includes pet context relevant to your query. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store: Manages subscriptions and payments. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Apple StoreKit: Used for in-app purchase verification.
We do not use advertising networks, social media trackers, or sell data to any third party.
6. Children's Privacy
PetSage AI is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@petsage.ai.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: The right to request access to your personal data.
- Correction: The right to request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: The right to request deletion of your data. Since pet data is stored on-device, you can delete it by removing data from the app or uninstalling it.
