PetSage AI is an AI-powered pet diary app for iPhone. You can log your pet's health, meals, activities, and vet visits โ€” and then have conversations with an AI that actually knows your pet's full history. It's the difference between a generic chatbot and an AI that says "given Kiki had gastro last week, I'd watch this closely."
What pets does it support? +
PetSage AI currently supports dogs and cats. We have breed intelligence built-in for 20 dog breeds and 10 cat breeds, with more being added regularly. Other pets (rabbits, birds, reptiles) are on our roadmap.
Is PetSage AI free to use? +
Yes! The core app is free forever โ€” you get unlimited pet profiles, diary logging, health tracking, medication reminders, and 3 AI chat messages per day. PetSage AI Pro ($3.99/month or $29.99/year) unlocks unlimited AI chat, invoice scanning, smart photo scanner, and the vet summary generator. Every new download includes a 7-day free Pro trial.
Which devices is it available on? +
PetSage AI is available on iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later. An Android version is planned for the future. Download it free from the App Store.

How does the AI know my pet's history? +
Every time you open an AI chat, PetSage AI automatically compiles your pet's profile, recent diary entries, medications, vet visits, weight history, and breed intelligence โ€” and sends it all to Claude as context. The AI genuinely reads this before responding to your question. There's no magic; it's careful engineering to make sure every conversation is fully informed.
What AI powers PetSage AI? +
PetSage AI uses Claude by Anthropic โ€” one of the most capable and safety-focused AI models available. Claude is known for being thoughtful, nuanced, and honest โ€” particularly important when discussing your pet's health.
Can PetSage AI replace my vet? +
No, and it will always tell you that clearly. PetSage AI is designed to help you be a more informed, organised pet owner โ€” not to replace professional veterinary advice. The AI will often recommend contacting your vet, and it takes that responsibility seriously. Think of it as a knowledgeable friend who helps you prepare for vet visits, not a substitute for them.
How does the Smart Photo Scanner work? +
Tap the camera icon in the AI chat. You can photograph anything โ€” a pet food label, a treat bag, a medication packet, or even a vet invoice. Claude uses vision AI to identify what's in the image and respond appropriately: food safety check against your pet's allergies, medication interaction check, or automatic invoice logging. One camera button, intelligent detection.
What is the Vet Summary Generator? +
It's a one-tap feature (Pro only) that generates a clean, professional health summary of your pet's last 30 days โ€” diagnoses, medications, symptoms, weight changes โ€” ready to share with your vet before an appointment. You can send it via email, messages, or print it out.
๐Ÿ’ณ Subscriptions & Billing
How does the free trial work? +
When you download PetSage AI, you get a 7-day free trial of Pro โ€” no credit card required to start. At the end of 7 days, you can choose to subscribe (monthly or yearly) or continue on the free tier. You won't be charged unless you explicitly choose to subscribe.
How do I cancel my subscription? +
Subscriptions are managed entirely through the App Store. Go to Settings โ†’ [Your Name] โ†’ Subscriptions on your iPhone, find PetSage AI, and tap Cancel. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly? +
Yes. Go to your App Store subscriptions and select the plan you'd like. The change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Switching from monthly to yearly is a great way to save 37%.
Do you offer refunds? +
Refunds are handled by Apple. If you believe you were charged in error, visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund. We're also happy to help โ€” contact us and we'll do our best to assist.

Where is my data stored? +
Your pet data is currently stored on your device. We do not store your diary entries, pet profiles, or health records on our servers. When you use the AI chat, the relevant context is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response, but we do not retain or log this data on our end.
Do you sell my data? +
Absolutely not. We do not sell, share, or monetise your personal or pet data in any way. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
What happens to my data if I delete the app? +
Since data is stored on your device, deleting the app removes all your data. We recommend exporting your diary (via the Vet Summary feature) before deleting if you want to retain records.
๐Ÿ› Troubleshooting
The AI chat isn't responding โ€” what do I do? +
Check your internet connection first. AI responses require a network connection. If you're connected but still seeing issues, try closing and reopening the app. If the problem persists, contact us with details of what you're seeing.
The invoice scanner didn't extract the data correctly. +
Best results come from good lighting and a flat invoice. Avoid shadows and make sure the full invoice is in frame. After scanning, you'll see a review screen where you can correct any errors before saving. If you're consistently getting poor results, send us a note โ€” we're always improving the extraction.
My data disappeared after updating the app. +
This shouldn't happen with a standard update, but if it does, please contact us immediately. We take data integrity seriously and will do everything we can to help you recover. Note: cloud sync is coming in a future update, which will prevent this issue entirely.
